Blog Post Fishing Report 08/23/2026-NJ 4-Hour PM Open Shared Fishing Charters
42” Cobia caught and released to fight another day. We had a very small fishing charter party on Sunday 08/23/2026, between the two of us we ended up releasing this 42" Cobia and in addition had 32 Summer Flounder, and croakers. The Cobia was caught on a 6" floating squid skirt tipped with squid strip and spearing.
Summer Flounder aka Fluke
While fishing for Summer Flounder, also known as fluke, is at its prime and nearing its peak for the summer, there is still plenty of time to get out on the water and target them. As August and September begin to roll around, the Summer Flounder start their slow migration toward their wintering grounds, moving out of the shallower bays and inshore waters and heading for deeper areas of the Atlantic Ocean. On our Friday 07/31/2026 4-Hour AM Private LBI Charter, our clients had a special request for Grandma’s birthday, which we were more than happy to accommodate. The clients aboard were locals from the Waretown area, which included, Mom, Dad, Grandma (on her birthday trip), and their excited 6-year-old daughter out for her very first fishing adventure. For Grandma’s celebration, their special request was to spend some time crabbing in the bay during their private charter.

On Sunday 07/19/2026 we had a 4-Hour Open Shared PM LBI Fishing Charter. It was a great day on the water, with lots of fish caught. On our Open Shared LBI fishing charter, we caught Summer Flounder, and Snapper Bluefish, while fishing Barnegat Bay, Barnegat Inlet, and the ocean front along the beaches.

Another great day on the water, with lots of fish caught. On our private fishing charter, we caught Summer Flounder, Croakers, and Snapper Bluefish, while fishing Barnegat Bay, Barnegat Inlet, and the ocean front along the beaches. For our Saturday 07/18/2026 4-Hour PM Private LBI Charter, after keeping a close eye on the upcoming weather forecast for Saturday, and communicating with our clients, we decided to change their fishing charter trip an AM trip to get our fishing trip in before the weather and storms.

Another great day on the water, with lots of surprise species caught. On our private fishing charter, we caught Summer Flounder, Black Sea Bass, Snapper Bluefish, and our surprises were numerous sharks up to 4 feet long, including (3) Atlantic Sharpnose Shark, a Finetooth Shark and a Smoothhound Shark.
