Captain William B. Rothermel, Master USCG Captain
Owner & Operator – Fishin Minions, LLC
With over 35 years of maritime experience navigating the waters of New Jersey and the Mid-Atlantic coastline, Captain William Rothermel is a licensed Master United States Coast Guard Captain committed to delivering safe, educational, and unforgettable experiences on the water.
Captain William got his first taste of being on the water, when his grandfather took him out crabbing. Later that year and years following, they operated a commercial crabbing business together, selling to the local fisheries and many of the local restaurants. During the summertime they were always on the water, hauling crab lines and crab pots in Barnegat Bay and Manahawkin Bay. After his grandfather passed away, Captain William during high school would spend time working on his uncle’s commercial fishing boat, setting nets and hauling lobsters traps. After high school, Captain William spent time fishing and working as a mate on a large party boat out of Barnegat Light. His main focus was fishing for Bluefish, Summer Flounder or Fluke, Yellowfin Tunas, Bluefin Tunas, and Striped Bass or Stripers.
For decades, Captain Rothermel has navigated the intricate waterways of Barnegat Bay, Barnegat Inlet, Barnegat Reef, inshore structural lump areas, and numerous Atlantic Ocean wrecks stretching from Long Beach Island to Island Beach State Park and Seaside Heights in Ocean Count, NJ. His deep local knowledge, combined with formal maritime training and Master USCG Credentials, allows him to operate at the highest safety and operational standards.
Over the past five years, Captain Rothermel has provided free private charters for family and friends, while refining a personalized approach that blends technical expertise and experience with a welcoming, small-group atmosphere. After completing his formal maritime training and receiving his USCG Master Credentials, and due to consistent demand and outstanding client feedback, he is now proud to offer his fishing charter services to the public through Fishin Minions, LLC.
